As I Run    © Mike Rocket Music

As I run, I walk through the places of my childhood

As I run, I ride past faces of my old neighborhood

I see a boy on a bike attempting a hill on the side of a street

Through the steam of an ice cream truck in the hot summer heat

There’s a vapor from a plane, in a clear blue sky

Stars and stripes in the wind at a school passing by

A 20 minute run’s like reliving 20 years.

The current beam of sun was exactly as it appears

The dream of the run more truthful than the one asleep

A feeling a youthful fun we’ve always got to keep,    as we run….

As I run, I walk through the places of my childhood

As I run I fly into places of my old neighborhood

As I run, I walk through the places of my childhood

As I run, I glide past faces of my old neighborhood

An abandoned bus schedule, wrinkled on the sidewalk by a 4 o’clock shadow

A car seat left by trash on the lawn, a cat crawling through the window

A girl I passed by with head phones on has the scent of my neighbor’s sister

The sound of a motorcycle like the one of a boyfriend of a babysitter

A 20 minute run’s like reliving 20 years.

The current beam of sun was exactly as it appears.

The dream of the run more truthful than the one asleep

A feeling a youthful fun we’ve always got to keep,    as we run….

There’s a park with kids swinging for the fence or reaching for the rim

A bird in a tree chirping on a limb

The dog down the street still looks the same

He’s only got a different name

A 20 minute run’s like reliving 20 years.

The current beam of sun was exactly as it appears.

The dream of the run more truthful than the one asleep

A feeling a youthful fun we’ve always got to keep,    as we run….

As I run, I walk through the places of my childhood

As I run, I crawl back to places of my old neighborhood

As I run, I walk through the places of my childhood

As I run, I ride past faces of my old neighborhood

FRANCIE  © Mike Rocket Music ASCAP

She rides the train from New York City
Met her at a party outside of Philly
Got a radiant smile, killer stare
Sea-blue eyes, long dark curly hair
Your eyes, they match the summer sky
Shades reflect those buildings standing high
It’s not that far from New York to Philly
An hour ride on the turnpike in Jersey

Chorus : Francie I miss you so
Baby, I want you to know

Last night we talked for four hours
About life, you mentioned theflowers
Walkin’ the Schuylkill on Mother’s Day
In Central Park on that Saturday
Walkin’ through the city crowds
Up above on those skyscraper clouds
Atop the Empire State that Sunday
Could see your apartment seven blocks away

Chorus

Surfin’ though another day
Online with you 100 miles away
You first saw my smile behind a mask
I came up to you with a question to ask
Are you married, you smiled and said no
Another weekend I’ll see you tomorrow

Chorus

"EXIT 102"
© MIKE ROCKET MUSIC ASCAP

SUMMER WIND IS BLOWING
OCEAN WAVES ARE CRASHING
MOTORCYCLES, SURFERS SOARING
HOT RODS ARE ROARING
BREAKING OUT ARE THE FIGHTS
THE TOUGH ASBURY KNIGHTS
OVER LOVERS OR OVER RACE
OR JUST TREADING ON ANOTHER'S SPACE

CHORUS:
EXIT 102, WE'RE NOT SURE WHAT WE'LL DO
CRASHING INTO THE TIDE ON A VERY UNCERTAIN RIDE
DOWN HERE AT EXIT 102, WE'RE NOT SURE WHAT WE'LL DO
DRIFTING IN WITH THE TIDE ON A VERY UNCERTAIN RIDE

IT'S THE SUMMER OF '74
IN THE EAST THEY'RE STILL FIGHTING THAT WAR
SAINTS AND SINNERS BY THE MURAL CLOWN
IN THIS BLOODY SHORE, ASBURY TOWN
TOO MANY THINGS HAVE BEEN WRONG
THE JUKEBOX WON'T PLAY MY SONG
ANOTHER CASUALTY IN THE FIGHT
MY ANGEL SAYS 'YOU BETTER BE CAREFUL TONIGHT'

CHORUS

GLORIA THOUGHT JOHNNY BE CAREFUL WHERE YOUR GOIN' TODAY
SHE SAID YOU BETTER LOOK OUT, BETTER FIND YOUR WAY
GLORIA THOUGHT BOBBY BE CAREFUL WHERE YOUR WALKING AROUND TONIGHT
GREASERS AND BIKERS ON THE STREETS, LOOK OUT, SO EVERYTHING'LL BE ALRIGHT

Thousands of Lives 2001 Mike Rocket © Mike Rocket Music ASCAP
Dedicated to Shawn Nassaney from Rhode Island
http://www.shawnmnassaney.org/

My brother's friend, Shawn, worked late on Monday night
Tuesday morning he was on the flight
Many watched it crash into the second of the towers
During those nine-one-one horrific morning hours
Missy used to work on the 73rd floor
Thank G-d, she doesn't work there any more
She called her friend, Liz, she got out she made it
Thousands of others weren't as fortunate

Chorus: Thousands of lives gone, millions struggle
Were workin' together in this time of trouble
Thousands of lives gone, millions struggle
United we stand in this time of trouble

Terrorist arrows have struck the heart of the country
We've lost friends, loved ones, or know somebody
President says, "We're a nation at war."
Who were fighting, we're still not sure
Firefighters, cops, and doctors doing their best
Hoping for miracles, getting no rest
Photos, flags, heroes, and candlelights
We'll never forget the devastation of those flights
(Chorus)

On the way to work today I drove past Manhattan
Looks like half the city is missing
Where used to stand the tall twin towers so proud
Now only scattered rubble and a billowing cloud

Enthusiastic, optimistic, lots of energy
Shawn was the captain of the cross country
Running, biking, skiing, he'd always win
Can't be with the guys now, but at least he's with Lynn

You took the negative, you made it bright
So everything for the team would be alright
Good Day mate, Yankee fan from Pawtucket, RI
Why this had to happen to you, no one knows why
( Chorus)

GOTTA GET TO THE JERSEY SHORE (C)  Mike Rocket Music & Victor Cornette

Blue skies its hot gotta cool down/ need to get down the shore real soon
By the ocean there are girls in bikinis
Casinos, light houses, water taffies
Wildwood, Ocean Grove, LBI
Cold beer by the bay or a Mai Tai

No matter where you stay/ Its time to get to the beach and play
Drive east of the Garden State Parkway/ Party all summer night and day

We've gotta get to the Jersey shore, Find what we're looking for

We've gotta get to the Jersey shore, Find what we're looking for

Atlantic City, Asbury, Cape May
Waves and sun surfs up today
Long Branch, Belmar, Sea Isle
Point Pleasant, Sandy Hook for a while

Walk the boardwalk or the pier for a ride
Move chairs and towels and beach balls with the tide
Margate, Avalon, or Ventnor
Ocean City, Longport, Stone Harbor

No matter where you stay/Its time to get to the beach and play
On the sand by the ocean or the bay/ Party all summer night and day

We've gotta get to the Jersey shore, Find what we're looking for

We've gotta get to the Jersey shore, Find what we're looking for

April and Angela (Two Girls In America) © Mike Rocket Music

Not ordinary girls in bars/ A lot more like movie stars.
Different places day and night/ Searching for Mr. Right. Brown Eyes, Blue Eyes. Always hoping for a surprise. Music, dancing, going out. Two girls I'm talking about.

(chorus) April and Angela, Two girls in America/ April and Angela, Two girls in America/ Two girls looking for love, searching for the perfect love/ Looking for the perfect guy, searching for the perfect guy.

Blond hair, sunglasses/ Counting on those backstage passes. Everything from head to toe/ Can't be the average Joe.

Brown Eyes, Blue Eyes. Always hoping for a surprise. Music, dancing, going out. Two girls we're singing about.

Chorus

Romance, red carpet treatment/ Penthouse, city apartment. Walks on beaches during high tides/ Summer parties, convertible rides.

Brown Eyes, Blue Eyes. Always hoping for a surprise. Music, dancing, going out. Two girls we're
singing about.

Chorus

To See Her © Mike Rocket Music

Met her at a show on a hot, dry day/ In New Mexico, outside Santa Fe/ Those dark brown eyes and hair blew me away/
She looks like a movie star/ can even play a little guitar/ Why does she have to be so far away?

Chorus: I'm going back today to see her/ I'm packin' my bags and I'm heading to see her/ In my car, in my truck,
on my bike just to see her/ I'll follow that long, dirt road just to see her

They call her the dessert queen/ She's got her pictures in a magazine/ She drives me so so crazy/ I'll take the ride across the country/
A day at the beach or in the canyon/ Her kiss puts me on top of a mountain/ She says she wants to take it slow/ I wanna walk with her to the other side of the rainbow/

Chorus

I think of that spring day we met/ holding hands in the pink sunset/ The world's gonna stop if I wait any more/ I better get there before she closes the door/ Wanna be with her in that warm western sun/ In her arms, to her I'll run/

Chorus

Princess of New Jersey©  Mike Rocket Music ASCAP

You like what you see in me, even though it reminds you of him/ Love "Racing in the Street", "Drive all Night", & "For You" I would/ Your name is Meredith though you prefer Missy/ So Missy are you the Princess of New Jersey/ You were
waiting for me when I got of the Meadowlands parking lot stage/ You came over to me, I couldn't believe what you said/ You said you've known who I was from the boardwalk and newspaper for a while/But I just couldn't stop staring at those eyes and that smile

Chorus: So tell me are you the Princess of New Jersey/ And, if so, could I be the prince/ I don't know if I could be
who you really want me to be/ Just think about it, you and me

You showed up to my gig last night at Kenny's on Bleecker Street/ Singin' to you while you were sitting there in your seat/ Lookin' down at you from high upon the stage/ A feeling my life had turned a new page/ Those two days and nights with
you seemed like one of those short, short dreams/ One of those dreams you wished would never end/ Although I was back home away from you, I wish I were still there/ So Missy, can I see you again when and where/ And I know it's your birthday, if I could just give you something, here's what I'd say...

Chorus

The Time Has Reached The Future (The World On The Internet) © 1999-2002 Mike Rocket

She faxed me a good-bye/ From the car, I called and asked, "Why?"/ My email said, "I need company- always need a lady to be with me."/ Another year old, still not sold/ In a stalemate here, in a world of fear/ But now I'm finished up with school/ You know everything should be cool/

The time has reached the future/ There's no doubt about that/ Fax machines and cellular phones/ The world on the Internet

Like a president without a first lady/ He, too, can't be alone/ And a first lady wants to take over, try to make us all her own/ Experiments on Mars and a space station/ movies in cars, but can we take care of our nation/ And with the world what's still wrong?/ Why can't we all just get along?

The time has reached the future/ There's no doubt about that/ Sex pills, hair pills, and laser perfect vision/ The world on the Internet/ The time has reached the future/ There's no doubt about that/ From caller ID to replay
TV/ The world on the Internet

Wars, diseases, and disasters never slow/ Whether the Middle East, India, or Kosovo/ Either a virus on the computer or in Africa/ workers and students killing each other here in America/ And toxic fuels keep on fillin' up the world, like a hot-air balloon/ The ozone's getting thinner/ It's gonna burst all too soon

The time has reached the future/ There's no doubt about that/ You can be a survivor or a millionaire/ The world on the Internet/ The time has reached the future/ There's no doubt about that/ Digital cameras and mp3s/ The world on the Internet

There's too much stress on succeeding/ But not enough on living/ Before you surf across the world tonight on your computer/ Just don't forget to email your neighbor/

The time has reached the future/ There's no doubt about that/ EBay ETrade and Ezpass/ The world on the Internet/ The time has reached the future/ There's no doubt about that/ HMOs and perfection pills/ The world on the Internet/ The time has reached the future/ There's no doubt about that/ DNA technology and cloning/ The world on the Internet/ the time has reached the future/ There's no doubt about that/ Instant, direct, dot com/ .... The world on the Internet

Erin© Mike Rocket Music

Colors, flowers, butterflies/ Letters, songs, and moonlit skies. Thoughts of her are in my head/ She dances to the Grateful Dead.

The sun lights up her golden hair/ Brown eyes sparkling, aware. She dresses nice, she looks real fine/ I really want to make her mine.

(chorus) You're fillin' up my mind right now, Erin/ You're takin' up my time/ You're what I dream about at night, Erin/ You're fillin' up my mind.

Another day is passing by/ Thinking of her, feeling high. I hope to see her sometime soon/ Take her flying by the moon.

Awake she helps me drift away/ Asleep she dances in my dreams. Grateful Dead and red carnations/ Colors, letters, serenations.

(chorus)

"The Philly Blues" - © Mike Rocket Music ASCAP

From the Manayunk Wall/ down to Independence Hall
Home of Ben Franklin/ look up to Billy Penn
Art Museum, Declaration, Constitution/ & Allen Iverson

Chorus: I've got the Philly Blues/ I've got the Philly Blues/ The Philly Blues/ Philadelphia Blues/ Nothin' to lose/ when you're singin' the Philly Blues

We'll take the Roosevelt Expressway/ to see Charles Barkley or Dr. J ("Julius Erving")
Michael Jack Schmidt ( "outta here")/ or a Fresh Prince hit
Find Dick or Bobby Clarke ("he shoots, he scores")/ down in Fairmount Park

Now look down Elfreth's Alley/ I think I see Bill Cosby
By the home of Besty Ross/ a band formerly known as Who's The Boss
Late greats Wilt Chamberlain/ and a horn man Grover Washington

On a SEPTA bus seat/ next to Mayor John Street
From the nation's oldest zoo/ across Delaware Avenue

Well now Boyz To Men/ They're back on South Street again
From the rockin' Bill Haley/ to the Spectrum stands Rocky ("Yo Adrian")
Down in the Gallery/ I hear Harry & late Whitey ("outta here grand slam")
